BAHAMAS, August, 10, 2011.- The Bahamian students, who have been selected to study in The Latin American Medical School (ELAM) in Cuba this year, met the Cuban Ambassador Jose Ponce and some officials of the Cuban Mission in Nassau. Emma Saint Gerard; Warduia Nykeia, Kimal Loroy and Rashad Sweeting are preparing conditions for travelling to Cuba on the last week of the present month. They are going to receive classes of Spanish at the Preparatory in the first year and after that they will start their studies in Medicine. This important project for the Bahamian people is part of the Solidarity Cooperation that Cuba offers to sister countries around the World and includes the United States and especially the Caribbean Region, said the Cuban Ambassador during his statement.
The mother of Kimal thanked the Cuban Revolution for offering this opportunity to his son. “I hope that he will become the first Doctor in Berry Island”, expressed the mother of Kimal. If he obtains the title, maybe he would be the first Doctor in my locality, reaffirmed Mrs. Loroy. At this moment, there are more than 50 Bahamian students in Universities in Cuba; the majority of them are studying Medicine. (Cubaminrex-Cuban Embassy) |
