TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO, August 29, 2011.- On August 24, the Cuban Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago held a friendly meeting with the new students from Trinidad and Tobago who received scholarships, to study Medicine in Cuba at the Latin American and Caribbean School of Medicine, better known as ELAM. During the meeting, scholarship awardees Lee-Anne Spencer, Crystal Subero and Amelia Jacob and their families, received from the Cuban Ambassador Humberto Rivero, an explanation about the National Programme of Scholarships for Foreign Students, as well as the history of the academic institution that will host them.
The new students were able to receive first-hand accounts of the experiences of the students from Trinidad and Tobago currently studying at ELAM - Alyssa Brizan, Racquia Charles, JeVaughn Clarke and Leonardo Sorillo – who have successfully completed their first year. Relatives of the students expressed their gratitude to the Government of Cuba which gave their children the opportunity to be trained as Doctors. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Trinidad and Tobago)
