Solidarity Group in Toronto Marks Cuba Day of National Rebellion

CANADA. July 27, 2011 .- Yesterday afternoon was held in Toronto the July 26, Day of National Rebellion and 58 anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes celebration. The activity was organized by the Solidarity Group and Toronto Forum on Cuba and the Cubans Association in Toronto, Juan Gualberto Gómez. Also attended numerous members of the other groups in solidarity with Cuba, the Consuls Generals of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Ecuador and Cubans residents in Canada members of the Association Juan Gualberto Gómez.

Consul Raul Delgado Concepcion was in charge of the official speech of the event and the Consul General of Venezuela, Ms. Martha Pardo, read the congratulatory message sent by President Hugo Chavez to the Cuban people for such a worthy celebration.

The Black Action Defense Committee was part of organization of the event and gave a small tribute to the fighter for black rights, Dudley Laws and the recently deceased Leonard Weinglass, attorney for the case of the Cuban Five imprisoned in U.S..

The event was enlivened by dissimilar cultural manifestations of local artists and bands with poetry, traditional folk dances from Peru and Mexico, traditional Cuban music and Afro-Caribbean’s rhythms. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Canada)
