Ministries of Education of Cuba and Jamaica Extend Validity of Current Bilateral Cooperation Agreement

JAMAICA, November 28, 2011. In a very simple but emotive ceremony, held at the Ministry of Education of Jamaica, the extension of the validity of the current bilateral agreement governing the cooperation Cuba offers Jamaica in the educational sector was ratified. Likewise, conditions are created for a new agreement to replace the existing one, early next year, at the very latest.
Mrs. Audrey Sewell, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education of Jamaica and Cuban Ambassador Yuri Gala López signed the relevant extension document. They both, took the floor to highlight the importance of this bilateral agreement which supports the presence of 46 Cuban teachers in this Caribbean sister nation.
Present in this ceremony were high-ranking officials of the aforesaid Jamaican Ministry and of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Jamaica. On behalf of Cuba, also in attendance were, comrade Gumersindo Cruz, Coordinator of the Educational Brigade and a Cuban teacher. (Cubaminrex/ Embacuba Jamaica)
