Oath-taking of New Teachers of the Cuban Educational Brigade Held in Jamaica
JAMAICA, November 28, 2011.- Last Saturday, 26 November, the new teachers who are already working in the public education system of Jamaica since they arrived September last, took part in the oath-taking ceremony held at the Embassy of Cuba in this country.
This solemn ceremony was attended by the 46 members of the Cuban Educational Brigade in Jamaica, including its coordinator, comrade Gumersindo Cruz. Also present were Cuban Ambassador Yuri Gala López and the Third Secretary Yaima González.
In his remarks, Comrade Gumersindo Cruz mentioned the work that the Brigade has been carrying out and urged the new teachers to perform a work of excellence during their stay in Jamaica and thus preserve the positive image this noble program of bilateral cooperation enjoys in this Caribbean sister nation.
In addition, Ambassador Gala López highlighted the achievements of the Brigade and recalled that, by signing the Code of Ethics, the new sixteen teachers would be signing their commitment to successfully complete the mission entrusted by our Revolution.
Teacher Lester Viltres read an emotive statement against the U.S. unjust blockade and in favour of the immediate release of our Five Heroes. In closing, newly arrived teacher Ricardo Pérez Fernández read the oath, document that was later signed by the new members of the aforesaid Brigade. (Cubaminrex/Embacuba Jamaica)
