CUBA, February 3rd, 2011.- Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez conveyed a greeting message from Fidel Castro to the members of the Cuban medical brigade collaborating in Bolivia.

In a meeting at a clinic in La Paz, Rodriguez said to doctors that the Cuban government closely follows their humanitarian work and noted that they and all those participating in international missions in different countries including those dealing with cholera in Haiti, represent the best values and achievements of the Revolution, Prensa Latina reported.

Rodriguez talked to the brigade about how Cuba continues making economic and social progress in spite of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade that has brought about losses of more than 751,000 billion dollars.

As part of his official visit to Bolivia, Rodriguez will visit this Thursday and community-based general hospital and an eye clinic in El Alto, a city next to La Paz. He will also visit a physical therapy center for the impaired created as a result of the Cuba-Bolivia Moto Mendez Mission.

Later in the day Rodriguez will meet with members of the Parliamentary League of Friendship with Cuba and leaders of movements in solidarity with the island.

On Wednesday, Rodriguez met with Bolivian President Evo Morales at the Quemado Palace and they both took part in a meeting marking the 10th anniversary of the Bolivarian Revolution of Venezuela presided over by President Hugo Chavez.

The Cuban foreign minister and his Bolivian counterpart David Choquehuanca signed a Joint Statement expressing both governments’ commitment to increase mutual cooperation in health, education, sports and trade, among other fields.  (Cubamnirex-RHC)
