Machado Ventura highlights Cuba's solidarity with Africa and Latin America VENEZUELA, January 4th, 2011.- Cuba's First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, said that since the Triumph of the Revolution, the island developed vocation of solidarity with the peoples of Africa and Latin America, referring to the current assistance provided today to Venezuela. ”We have a spirit of solidarity, we don’t give surplus, we share what we have, that is our policy and we are consistent with it,” said Machado, who is visiting the South American country, hit by heavy rains last November leaving 130,000 refugees . First Vice President reiterated that he is visiting Venezuela due to the situation caused by heavy rainfall, ratifying Cuba’s intention of providing any assistance in their power. In this regard the official said that Cuba offered support not only healthcare but also in other spheres such as culture and sport, as many Cuban collaborators are contributing to making life more enjoyable for the thousands of people that remain in shelters. He referred to the humanitarian aid coming from the Caribbean island, which began arriving by sea with building materials and mattresses. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
