By Cosette Pérez Rodriguez was accompanied by his director for Latin American affairs Maria Elena Ruiz, Cuban ambassador to Ecuador Jorge Rodriquez and the advisors of this diplomatic mission. Moreno and Rodriguez talked about the study on disability in Ecuador made with Cuban methodology and with the participation of about 300 Cuban specialists in the mission Manuela Espejo. Both Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa and Moreno had often expressed gratitude for this expression of solidarity that allowed the diagnosis of 294,166 disabled people through visiting about 1.3 million houses in Ecuador. Correa received Rodriguez on Monday. Monday afternoon, Rodriguez presided, along with his Ecuadorian peer Ricardo Patino, over the Second Meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism between the two countries and signed a Joint Statement which highlights many similarities in core issues of foreign policy.
