Nicaraguan President Meets with Cuban Party Leader Diaz-Canel met on Tuesday night for over an hour with President Daniel Ortega in the traditional atmosphere of friendship that characterizes the links between the PCC and the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN), forged by over three decades of mutual collaboration. They discussed issues related to their countries´ active participation in the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), sources from the Cuban Embassy in Managua informed Prensa Latina. They also discussed issues related to links between the two countries and agreed to further strengthen bilateral collaboration, added the sources. The Cuban official arrived in Managua last Sunday accompanied by PCC Central Committee official Enilda Ginaris, invited to take part in celebrations for the 32nd anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Popular Revolution and the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the FSLN. Both celebrations ended yesterday with a mass, enthusiastic gathering of over 600,000 people in Managua, closed by Ortega. Diaz-Canel was among speakers of the main event during which he conveyed a message from the PCC, the government and the Cuban people, saying that the Cuban Revolution, led by Fidel and Raul Castro, celebrate these anniversaries along with the Nicaraguans, convinced that our peoples will overcome any difficulty. The Cuban official´s agenda included a meeting with President of the National University Council Telemaco Talavera, also attended by Health Minister Sonia Castro and presidential advisor for national policies Paul Oquist. Diaz-Canel also met with members of the board of the National University Council and explained to them the process of implementation of the Economic and Social Policy Guidelines approved in the 6th PCC Congress and the strategies implemented to increase the quality and rigour of teaching in Cuban universities.
