Friendship Group with Cuba Set Up at Jamaica Parliament
JAMAICA, May 31, 2011.- Last Monday, May 30, The Clerk to the Houses, sent Cuban Ambassador to Jamaica a letter informing him about the recent creation of the Jamaica-Cuba Parliamentary Friendship Group.
As stated in the aforementioned letter, the group held his first meeting early in the month of May, in the presence of Mr. Delroy Chuck, Speaker of the House of Representatives and other six parliamentarians from the two main political parties (JLP and PNP). Afterwards, 11 legislators from both parties joined this initiative.
The Friendship Group was finally made up of 17 Jamaican Senators: eleven members from the House of Representatives and seven from the Senate.
This action is in keeping with the process of implementation of the Cuba-Jamaica inter-parliamentary cooperation agreement, which was signed in Havana in June, 2010. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Jamaica)
