Granma Prints Communiqué by Venezuelan Presidency. HAVANA, Cuba, June 11, 2011.- The Granma newspaper reproduces on Saturday on its front page the statement read by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro: Presidency of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Communiqué to the Venezuelan people The Commander President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, in correspondence with the principles of the Bolivarian Revolution of informing, in a direct and timely manner, about issues of public interest, has ordered to inform our people the following:
Following successful working visits to Brazil and Ecuador, where important agreements that will strength bilateral cooperation between our countries were achieved, and while the 11th Venezuela-Cuba Joint Commission was under way, President Chavez, who was nearly recovered from an injured knee, had another health complaint, which was immediately analyzed by his medical team. With the invaluable support of Fidel, Raul, and the excellent health system of the fraternal Republic of Cuba, diagnostic examinations were made, which revealed the existence of a pelvic abscess that deserved the decision of President Hugo Chavez to immediately undergo a corrective surgery procedure. This medical procedure was carried out this morning, on Friday, June 10, in the city of Havana, with satisfactory results for the health of Commander Hugo Chavez, who is now starting the process of recovery accompanied by his relatives, his medical team and part of the government team. The medical team considers that the President of the Republic will be fit to return to Venezuela in a safe way within the next few days, an aspect on which we’ll keep our people duly informed. Commander Chavez ratifies his unyielding will to keep working for the supreme interests of the homeland, and sends his directions to all the people of Venezuela to continue advancing in the consolidation of the Bolivarian Revolution.
