Cuba, Guatemala Review Bilateral Agenda, Integration CUBA, March 25, 2011.- Foreign Minister of Guatemala Haroldo Rodas asserted on Thursday that his stay in Cuba will contribute to a review of the bilateral agenda and shared commitments in the Latin American and Caribbean pro-integration project. This visit is a reason for happiness and expresses the feelings of mutual support, collaboration and understanding between both countries, with links at their best ever, said the visiting diplomat in a meeting with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez.
In this way we will continue making progress in our plans to achieve the aspiration of integration of our predecessors in Latin America and the Caribbean, said Rodas, adding that it is in the Guatemalan Government’s interest to give a boost to the regional partnership, a useful instrument to face the challenges of the 21st Century. The Cuban Foreign minister highlighted the intense, long lasting, fruitful relation existing between the two nations. Relations between Cuba and Guatemala are dynamic and exemplary, said Rodriguez, who appreciated the solidarity of the Guatemalan people and government, and the stand of President Alvaro Colom in international and regional forums against the US economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba. He highlighted both parties’ coincidence in views about many issues of the international agenda and in the common effort for the integration of Our America, as Cuban National Hero Jose Marti called it. We are aware of projects promoted by Colom regarding the need to reform the UN Security Council, eliminating privileges and introducing a better representation of countries from the South, said the Cuban diplomat. |
