Machado Ventura Meets with Guatemala’s Foreign Minister

CUBA, 24 March 2011.- Comrade Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, First Vice President of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers, met today with H.E. Mr. Roger Haroldo Rodas Melgar, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guatemala, who is paying an official visit to our country.

During the cordial meeting, both leaders reviewed the current state of bilateral relations between Guatemala and Cuba and reiterated their governments’ readiness to continue strengthening their countries’ mutual relations of friendship and cooperation. The exchange also served to address other issues of interest within the regional and international agenda.

Accompanying the distinguished visitor were, H.E. Mr. Carlos Raul Morales, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Mr. Herbert Estuardo Meneses Coronado, Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala in our country, and H.E. Mr. Marco Tulio Chicas, Director General in charge of Bilateral Relations. On the Cuban side, also present were Comrade Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs and other Ministry officers.

After the meeting, the Guatemalan dignitary laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti and held official talks with the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla. (Cubaminrex)
