President of Mexico’s Chamber of Deputies Visited Cuba.

CUBA, March 14, 2011.- The President of the Executive Board of the Chamber of Deputies of Mexico, Jorge Carlos Ramirez Marin, conducted a working visit to Cuba at the invitation of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament).

Ramirez was accompanied by Porfilio Muñoz Ledo, President of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Chamber of Deputies; and Oznerol Pacheco Castro, member of the Cuba-Mexico Friendship Parliamentary Group, Granma newspaper reports.

During their stay in Cuba, they were received by the President of the Cuban Parliament, Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, and other members of the legislative body.

The main purpose of their visit was to work with the Cuban Parliament on the coordination of the agenda for the upcoming 12th Cuba-Mexico Inter-parliamentary Conference, scheduled for May in Mexico.

Granma newspaper reports that the talks were held in a friendly environment and that the goals of the meetings were attained.

Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations and noted that these exchanges contribute to strengthening the friendship and solidarity ties between Cuba and Mexico.
