Independent media highlighted the presentation made by the Cuban Ambassador on the blocked

BOTSWANA, October 21, 2010. - The newspapers Mmegi and Global Post highly the press conference given by the Cuban Ambassador Ramon Alonso Medina about the blockade.

Both of them emphasized  that the blockade has intensified despite the growing demands of the 187 Member States of the General Assembly United Nations voted in favor of the Cuban resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba”

They stressed that the blockade violates international law, being contrary to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and therefore constitutes a transgression against peace, development and security of a sovereign state.

The newspapers reflected that the blockade is a unilateral act of aggression and permanent threat to stability and peace in Cuba, besides being an act violating the Cuban people's human rights.

They added that the economic damage to Cuba amounted to 975 billion dollars, taking into account the depreciation of the dollar against gold in the international financial market between 1961 and 2010.
