Oireachtas Foreign AFFAIRS and Trade Committee Chairman meets cuban Ambassador.
IRELAND, September 8, 2011.- Pat Breen T.D., CHair of the Oireachtas Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade met Cuban Ambassador Ms. Teresita Trujillo in Dáil Éireann.

At the meeting both parties assessed the positive development of bilateral relations and further steps to strengthening those, including areas such as trade and
investment.

Among the issues discussed were the forthcoming UN General Assembly vote on the resolution calling for the end of the US blockade on Cuba; the process of normalization of relations between the European Union and Cuba and the lifting of the EU Common Position; the international campaign for the release of the 5 Cuban Heroes unjustly imprisoned in the US, and in particular the call for Rene Gonzalez’s return to the island after his release upon completion of his sentence, expected to take place next 7 October.
