Condolences to Cuba on the death of
General Julio Casas Regueiro.
IRELAND, September 7, 2011.- Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD has sent a message of condolences to Cuba on the death of Julio Casas Regueiro, Vice President of the Council of State and Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of the Republic of Cuba.
Mr. Adams’ message reads:
“I learned with sadness of the death of Julio Casas Regueiro, Vice President of the Council of State and Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of the Republic of Cuba.
On behalf of Sinn Féin I want to extend my sincere condolences to his family, to his close friends President Raúl Castro, Fidel Castro and to the people and government of Cuba.
Julio Casas Regueiro fought in the revolution which overthrew the Batista dictatorship. In the decades since then General Casas worked tirelessly to improve the lives of Cuban citizens. He was renowned for his energy and efficiency and his business acumen. Julio Casas Regueiro dedicated his life to the building of a new society in Cuba.
