Cuba: the World Champion of Solidarity and Humanism, says Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa
CUBA, December 9th, 2009.- After months of carrying out genetic and psycho-social inquiries in one third of the Ecuadorean territory, 192 Cuban volunteer workers, members of the Manuela Espejo mission of solidarity, returned home to celebrate, together with relatives and the people in general, the 51st anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution.
Moments before their departure, after studying the disabilities of over 78,000 people and of visiting almost 380,000 homes –which also included neurophysiology, psychology, angiology and otolaryngology consultations-, the Cuban doctors were the object of the appreciation of the Ecuadorean people and government, the president of which, Rafael Correa, described Cuba as the world champion of solidarity and humanism.
Hilda Hernández, an official from the Public Health Ministry in charge of designing strategies and preparing methodologies to consolidate the study, assessed the opportunity of being part of this brigade as a doctorate in principles, ethics and humanism, and assured Revolution leader Fidel Castro, President Raúl Castro and the Health authorities that amid the difficult geographic and climatic conditions, the fact that the replacement of the Revolution’s older generations of professionals was guaranteed has become evident once again.
After pointing out that the Cuban volunteers didn’t hesitate in the face of vicissitudes, Deputy Health Minister Marcia Cobas congratulated the brigade for its results and reaffirmed that the mission of ALBA (the Bolivarian Alliance of the Americas), which has no boundaries, was materialized in them, based on the values of solidarity instilled by Fidel and Raúl.
