President Correa Stresses Cuba's Example

ECUADOR, December 8, 2009.- Ecuador's President Rafael Correa stressed the example of Cuba, that small, rebel and sovereign island, which has not been never subdued to the empire and, despite difficulties, is an example of solidarity worldwide.

At the end of the awarding ceremony to the members of the Manuela Espejo Solidarity Mission, Correa expressed gratitude to "the Cuban government and its special health professionals that have supported disabled people in this country."

Vice President Lenin Moreno, an extensive representation of the cabinet and the high Ecuadorian military command, Cuban ambassador to this nation Benigno Perez, and almost 200 physicians of the island attended the meeting, held at a capital's central hotel on Monday.

"Cuban experts have stated the way with their experience and also received support from Ecuadorian professors and students of the Latin American School of Medicine, another form of the Cuban cooperation to Latin America and the world," the statesman said.

"Let's hope to God Obama proves a radical change in his foreign policy," eliminate that criminal and unjustified blockade and Cuba emerges as a Latin American power, Correa told Prensa Latina and on Cuban Television.

"We are optimist. We think Cuba has given several examples of dignity and resistance. We have resisted three years of greater hardship, and think 2010 will be a great year," Correa concluded. (Cubaminrex-PL)
