Three Seychellois leave for medical training in Cuba. SEYCHELLES, September 6, 2010.- Three young Seychellois are leaving the country today to pursue medical studies at the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba. Also present were principal secretary for foreign affairs Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, National Human Resources Development Council chief executive Christian Cafrine and community health chief medical officer Dr Anne Gabriel. Their scholarships were made possible after President James Michel’s official visit to Cuba in November last year – altogether the Cuban government has offered 10 scholarships to Seychelles. Mrs Nogales told the students to make the most of their studies, adding that they will be studying in a prestigious school. And she wished them all the best in their studies. Mr Cafrine thanked the Cuban government for supporting Seychelles through these scholarships. He also wished the students all the best in their seven years’ training and told them to return at the end of the course to help their country. Mr Loustau-Lalanne said Seychelles has received scholarships this year from the Cuban government as a result of the good bilateral cooperation between the two nations. He said over the years more than 280 Seychellois have been trained in various fields in Cuban universities. There are now 20 Seychellois students in Cuba pursuing studies in fields such as agriculture, economics and engineering. ( Cubaminrex- Embacuba Seychelles) |
