Begins in Zambia program of Labiofam in the fight against the malaria
ZAMBIA, October 25, 2010.- This week a Cuban program against malaria began in Zambia. A group of specialists from Labiofam jointly with the Zambian National Program of malaria started the mapping of breeding place in the capital, Lusaka, and several districts in rural areas. On October 25th, the next step will begin with the application of biolarvicides.
Malaria together with AIDS and tuberculosis is one of the three most important challenges in the health sector that Zambia faces. With the application of the Cuban method, it is hoped to reduce 80% of the prevalence of this illness that takes more than 50,000 lives every year, which represents the 47% of the deaths in the country.
The Government of Zambia, through the National Malaria Program has been committed to reduce the load of this illness in the whole country. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Zambia)
