Cuba - Zambia strengthen their bilateral cooperation.

ZAMBIA, August 25th, 2010.- A group of ten Cuban specialists from Labiofam arrived in Zambia to joint the government’s efforts in eradicating malaria.

This project is a result of the visit of His Excellency, Rupiah Banda, to Cuba in September 2009, during his tour in Labiofam. The programme is scheduled for one year and will be deployed in all the nine provinces of the country.

The arrival of the Cuban specialists sets the reopening of the technical bilateral cooperation. Malaria causes nearly 1 million deaths per year, and 85 percent of those who die are children under 5 years of age. Cuban programme against malaria has been put in place in different countries of the continent and the region with successful results. (Cubaminrex – Embacuba Zambia)
