Laos, Cuba look to deepen cultural understanding

Recently appointed Ambassador of Cuba to Laos, Waldo Reyes Sardinas visited Minister of Information and Culture, Mounkeo Oraboun in Vientane on Monday.

During the visit, the two discussed measures to strengthen cooperation on the information and culture sector between Laos and Cuba.
“We plan tyo provide more opportunity for Cuban artists and singers to perform here and share their culture with Laos,“ said Mr. Mounkeo.

The two nations have shared various cultural activities in the past including cultural shows and musical exchanges.

The Ministry of Information and Culture is currently working to preserve and promote traditional arts in Luang Prabang, Champassak, Xieng Khuang and Huaphan provinces.
‘We would also like Lao media to cooperate and share ideas with counterparts in Cuba and also boost exchanges of programmes and news between Lao and Cuban television,” said Mr. Mounkeo.

He also expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would continue to expand and prosper in the future.

“We would like to encourage artistic exchanges between our countries and boost knowledge and understanding among the people of our nations through media exchanges,” Mr. Sardinas said.
Laos and Cuba have close cooperation ties in many fields, including information and communications technology and health.
