Jamaican Health Minister travelled to Cuba leading a high-level delegation.
JAMAICA, February 11, 2011.- Last Wednesday, February 9, a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Health of Jamaica travelled to Cuba to pay a working visit.
The abovementioned delegation is led by Health Minister, Rudyard Spencer and is also made up of Dr. Jean Dixon, Permanent Secretary; Dr. Marion Bullock DuCasse, Chief Medical Officer, Mr. Garfield Prescod, Director of the Maintenance Unit; Mrs. Stephanie Shaw, Director of Public Relations and Communications, and Dr. Shane Alexis, President of the Medical Association of Jamaica.
The Jamaican delegation will carry out a busy schedule of activities that will include meetings with Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, Cuban Minister of Health and other high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Health (MINSAP), an opportunity during which an exchange on the bilateral cooperation programs in the health sector will be held.
At present, there is a Cuban Medical Brigade made up of 130 health professionals working in Jamaica, including the medical personnel stationed at the Ophthalmology Centre opened in January 2010. (Cubaminrex-Embacuba Jamaica)
