The President of the Peruvian Olympic Committee on a Visit to Cuba.

CUBA, January 13th, 2011.- Jose Quiñones, president of the Peruvian Olympic Committee, arrived in Cuba on Thursday, and expressed his gratitude for what the island has historically done for the development of sports in that Andean nation.

He took an interest in the advisory of Cuban specialists in various cooperation projects, including training bases, mechanisms for anti-doping control, the training of coaches, and other plans involving events of Olympic cycles.

The visitor announced that the South American nation will organize the Bolivarian Games in 2013 and the Bolivarian Games of Youth in 2015, among other competitions, a reason for which they needs Cuban experience.

Quiñones added that this visit will allow him to meet with a group of Peruvian weightlifters and boxers, now training in Cuba.

During his stay in Havana, the leader will hold talks with Jose Ramon Fernandez, Vice-president of the Council of State and President of the Cuban Olympic Committee, and with Christian Jimenez, President of the Cuban Sports Institute.

Quiñones traveled to Cuba accompanied by Dr. Victor Andres Puentes, Vice-president of the Peruvian Olympic Committee. The two of them were welcomed on Thursday at Havana’s Jose Marti International Airport by Roberto Leon, First Vice-president of the Cuban Sports Institute. (Cubaminrex-Cuban News Agency)
