Venezuelan Farmers Being Trained in Cuba.

VENEZUELA, February 11th, 2011.- As part of a cooperation agreement between Cuba and Venezuela in various spheres of the economy, 254 specialists in agricultural fields from the South American country have been trained in 2010 in the Institute of Animal Sciences

Omelio Borroto, director of that scientific institution, located in the municipality of San Jose de las Lajas in the province of Mayabeque, told AIN that with these activities they are reinforcing the ties of friendship and solidarity between the two nations.

Borroto said that most participants in meetings are young people who are acquiring experience in agriculture and rural development, enabling them to find solutions to advance agriculture and livestock.

Among the subjects taught in the 11 courses given are general pest management of crops, technologies for milk production, plant protection and agricultural production laboratory projects, reported Amixa Borroto, a training specialist of the institution.

She added that other classes focused on alternative animal nutrition, cooperative management, sustainable agriculture and small-scale biological laboratory control.

During these workshops the students were linked to areas of Endogenous Project, a program promoting better standards of life for residents of communities through exchanges of experiences and technologies. (Cubaminrex – Granma)
