Maradona Reiterates Admiration for Fidel Castro

CUBA,  August 25, 2009.-  Diego Armando Maradona, head coach of the Argentinean national soccer team, reiterated on Monday his admiration for the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

In an interview with an Argentinean newspaper reproduced by the CubaDebate website, the former star player said: “Fidel Castro is the personality that has impressed me the most, undoubtedly. I have met great people but Fidel is different from the rest.”

“I would like to visit Cuba again to give him a hug,” he added. Born on October 30th, 1960, Maradona is regarded as one of the best soccer players of all times. He led Argentina to winning the FIFA World Cup in 1986. (Cubaminrex-AIN)
