Cuban Parliament President Calls on Deputies to Spread Fidel’s Message

CUBA, August 7th, 2010.- The president of the Cuban parliament, Ricardo Alarcon, encouraged Cuban deputies Saturday to spread Fidel Castro’s message to avoid a new war and noted that no one in the world is fighting for world peace as much as Fidel is.

During an extraordinary meeting of the Cuban National Assembly of the People’s Power attended by the Revolution leader and by Cuban president Raul Castro, Alarcon encouraged deputies to be creative and turn to any resources including information technologies, emails and even personal contacts, to multiply Fidel’s call to avoid a war that could be initiated by the US and Israel against Iran.

The meeting opened with an address by Fidel, who called on world leaders to stop American president Barack Obama from unleashing a nuclear war and warned about the consequences of such a conflict.

For more than an hour, Fidel answered to questions asked by the deputies to whom he explained that the decision to start an attack on Iran, or not, was in Obama’s hands and insisted on the dreadful consequences of such a war.

Asked about the role of the European Union, Russia and China regarding the conflict, Fidel said the most important thing is not what they have done but what they can do in the future in favor of peace and to avoid the war.

Fidel said today’s meeting of the Cuban parliament was very important, since it was being broadcast live by various international television and radio channels and newsagencies, raising world awareness of the issue and its urgency, repeating his warningand asking Obama once again to act in a responsible manner.
