| With Fidel and for Peace
CUBA, August 12th, 2010.- The Cuban artistic and intellectual movement, along with other organizations of students and youths, will carry out—from Tuesday August 12 to Saturday 14—the event Con Fidel por la Paz (With Fidel for Peace) with the participation of impotant representatives of the various disciplines. These actions will correspond to the statements of the Revolution leader, Fidel Castro, in the special session of the National Assembly of the people’s Power on Saturday, August 7, when he summoned the mobilization in all possible ways, the international public opinion to stop a nuclear war with catastrophic consequences for humankind. Today, the event will have two scenarios: the beginning of the mural Wall against War, in the vicinity of the monument to the victims of the Maine battleship, on the Malecon. It will be led by the artist Alexis Leyva Machado (Kcho) and members of the Martha Machado Brigade. Some singers, as well as performing groups and community projects will participate in the 13 de Marzo Park, in front of the Museum of the Revolution, which will end up at 10:30 with a concert by young singers. On Friday, in all the capitals of the provinces, from 10:00 am, the voices of the children and teenagers who make up the over 200 choruses will be heard. At 4:00 pm, in Pabellon Cuba, various poets like Carilda Oliver Labra, Roberto Fernández Retamar, César López, Nancy Morejón and Miguel Barnet will read some of their works, along with the music of Sara Gonzalez. Two hours later, Kiki Corona, La Colmenita and circus artists will present a show for kids in one of the rooms of the former Avenida cinema (41 y 54, Playa). The event will end on Saturday 14, at 10:00 pm, at the staircase of the University of Havana, with the Peace, Love and Music concert, starring Kelvis Ochoa, David Torrens, Raúl Torres and Eduardo Sosa.
