Bolivian President Extols the Value of Fidel Castro’s Work. BOLIVIA, August 31th, 2010.- "The best tribute we can be paid to the Cuban revolution and our Bolivian ancestors is not to become instruments of imperialism," said President Evo Morales on Tuesday at the launching of Fidel Castro’s latest book The Strategic Victory. "Cuba, despite the US blockade, gives its solidarity to everybody," said the head of state, and celebrated the recovery of the leader of the Caribbean country. "Fidel is unbeatable and his recovery fills us with joy, because now he’ll be able to accompany the revolutionaries from all over the world for many more years," he pointed out during his speech at Quemado Palace. The Bolivian leader highlighted the genius of one of the most important men of the 20th century and "the one who has the most to say about this one," he commented. "Fidel predicted what was going to happen in Bolivia and the world due to climate change, the debacle of capitalism, and the possible starvation of human beings," he argued. "That’s Fidel, the one who defended his homeland, who defended his life from a terrible disease, and who now gives us this book," applauded Morales. For the Bolivian President, this is the millennium of the peoples –which, with or without parties, he pointed out- will rebel again and again against injustice, like Cubans did over half a century ago. During the presentation of the book, Hero of the Republic of Cuba Guillermo García Frías said that, as a result of this process, generations like those of the Cuban physicians offering their services in Bolivia have emerged, showing the changes that have taken place in our country. García Frías shared his experiences during the armed struggle and the vicissitudes the rebels had to go through until achieving the victory over Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship. President Evo Morales said that, according to reports of the Cuban Embassy in Bolivia, the physicians involved in the Operation Miracle program have contributed to giving eyesight back to more than 546,000 Bolivians. More than 300 people attended the ceremony held at the seat of the Bolivian government, including ambassadors accredited in the country, ministers, military men, members of social organizations, and medical staff, teachers and other professionals from Cuba.
