Chávez’ Response to Fidel’s Message.

September 15th, 2010

Dear Fidel,

To be honest, we are experiencing a wave of adversities.

At daybreak today, Tuesday, a helicopter from the Bolivarian Navy that was participating in the successful rescue of 21 compatriots from two small vessels lost for around 48 hours (with a third vessel still missing) crashed and, at this time (10:00 hours) I have just spoken to the Vice Admiral who is leading the operations. They are rescuing some lifeless bodies. Another tragedy!

However, as you know, we are children of the storm, the children of Bolívar, "the man of difficulties."

And we shall go on! On behalf of our people, of the families of those who died, of the revolutionary government and in memory of our martyrs, I express our most profound gratitude for your message of condolence and your words of solidarity.

You Maestro, who has faced adversity, know well that we revolutionaries grow in the face of it or, as our father Simón Bolívar would say "we will fight against it and make it obey us."

¡Hasta la victoria siempre, Fidel!

We shall overcome!
