CUBA, August 14TH, 2010.- Colombian Senator Piedad Cordoba called “excellent” her meeting with the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, held in Havana on August 12.

In comments posted in her Twitter account, she pointed out: “I listened carefully to a Fidel Castro that is concerned about the survival of the planet; to his humanist vision; very lucid.”

The leader of the movement “Colombians for Peace” debated with the Fidel about the situation in Latin America and the dangers of war in the world.

She also tackled the peace process in Colombia and congratulated Fidel for his 84th birthday, celebrated on Friday, according to reports by the Cubadebate website.

Piedad Cordoba asked to return on Sunday with some of the main fighters for peace in Colombia “to speak with the Comandante.”

Fidel accepted and declared that he considers that the union of the Colombian people is an essential factor to prevent a nuclear conflict.

Cubadebate also published that, during the fraternal meeting on Thursday, the leader of the Cuban Revolution and the Colombian Senator coincided in expressing their optimism for the triumph of peace and the construction of a new world, where the human species makes good use of its intelligence and accumulated knowledge.
