| Fidel Castro’s 84th Birthday Celebrated in Several Countries CUBA, August 14TH, 2010.- Many Latin American countries celebrated Friday the 84th birthday of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro with a series of cultural activities in their capital cities. A cultural gala called “ALBA Sings to Fidel Castro and Oswaldo Guayasamín” was held in Quito in the framework of Solidarity with Cuba activities. It included a popular march led by members of the Ecuadorian student organization on the island. Meanwhile in Bolivia, the Communist Party celebrated the 84th anniversary of the historic leader of the Revolution and called him a great statesman who continues transmitting knowledge and teaching lessons about the today’s world. Hundreds of people joined celebrations in Mexico and stressed their admiration for an extraordinary man, loved by the people. The day before, the presidents of Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua and other government officials sent congratulatory messages to Fidel Castro and thanked his commitment and dedication to the oppressed peoples of the world.
