Fidel Castro Visits National Aquarium with Jeffrey Goldberg. CUBA, August 31th, 2010.- Cuban leader Fidel Castro once again visited the National Aquarium in Havana, this time accompanied by US journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, who writes for The Atlantic; Julia Sweig, an expert at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR); and President of the Hebrew Community in Cuba Adela Dworin. Fidel Castro invited the guests to see the dolphin show at the aquarium after his interview on Sunday with Jeffrey Goldberg, a specialist on the Middle East and Israel. The board of directors at the aquarium shared details of their work with the visitors including the care given to the dolphins, special characteristics of dolphins, information on how female dolphins are used in the shows because they are more discipline, and the way the trainers communicate with dolphins using touch. After enjoying the show, Fidel and his guests congratulated the young trainers who were also part of the underwater choreography with the dolphins. During their visit to the aquarium the group spoke about several issues including Fidel’s historic visit to the Cuban Hebrew Community on December 20, 1998, the first part of a long interview with Fidel published on Monday in the Mexican newspaper La Jornada, and the presentation of Fidel Castro’s latest book, La victoria estratégica (The strategic victory), in Venezuela and upcoming in Bolivia by Commander of the Revolution Guillermo García Frías. At the end of the day, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro presented the visitors with signed copies of his book, and photos from the visit to the aquarium and from the interview conducted the previous day. He presented Jeffrey Goldberg, a baseball fan and coach of his son’s team, a baseball hat from the Cuban national team along with a baseball signed by Cuban baseball greats such as Omar Linares, Germán Mesa and Orestes Kindelán.
