Cuba: Photo exhibition “Fidel” Opens in Havana. CUBA, January 8th, 2011.- The photo exhibition “Fidel” by young photographer Geovanni Fernández Nevot opened Friday at the Press House in Havana. President of the Association of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) Tubal Páez thanked the author and those who set the exhibition for their contribution to perpetuating exceptional moments of the life of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro, and by extension, of the Cuban Revolution. Paez said that this exhibition continues the tradition of the great Cuban photographers, who, with their valuable and expressive images, work alongside journalists to continue validating the reasons why 52 years ago the Caravan of Liberty entered Havana. The exhibit is made up of 31 photographs at public and other events, historical moments of the 52 years of intense revolutionary dynamic, in which Cubans headed by Fidel Castro sought to realize the dream of a fairer society. The Caravan of Liberty entered Havana on January 8, 1959 in the town of Madruga, after a journey that brought the bearded rebels from Santiago de Cuba, and Cuban flags accompanied the July 26 Movement, with a unprecedented popular joy in Cuba.
