Fidel Castro: "The UN is a Fraud".

CUBA, February 17th, 2011.- “The United Nations is a fraud, and the United States always has the last word,” the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, stated.

In the second part of a meeting with intellectuals attending the 20th Havana Intl Book Fair broadcasted by Cuban television on Wednesday afternoon, Fidel Castro addressed Washington’s influence in the UN.

When the head of the UN or of any of its agencies does not respond to US interests, that person is removed, stated the Cuban leader.

The latest UN voting of a resolution condemning the US blockade against Cuba, ratified by 187 countries, was blatantly ignored by Washington, he noted.

He stated that the United Nations is worthless if it cannot even say that the United States' procedures are illegal and genocidal.

The United States claims that Cuba is a terrorist country, but no American has ever been killed by Cuba as the result of a bomb or any kind of terrorist attack, and there has never been a single case of torture.

Fidel Castro referred to moments of the revolutionary struggle in Cuba and recalled crimes committed by the U.S. government in Latin America, such as the murder of Nicaraguan leader Augusto Cesar Sandino.

Intellectuals expressed their opinions and concerns about issues such as the popular uprisings in the Middle East, the performance of international organizations, and the imminent dangers that lurk over human race. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
