Cuban Ambassador is interviewed on Channel 5 in Belize

 Belize, 29 of June 2009. The Ambassador of Cuba to Belize Manuel Rubido, offered today an interview to channel 5 TV of Belize, to denounce the brutal coup perpetrated in Honduras by elements of the armed forces of that country against the legitimate President José Manuel Zelaya Rosales. The Cuban diplomat also denounced the violations committed against diplomatic personnel in Honduras, and in particular against the Cuban Ambassador to that nation. The Ambassador demanded as well, that the armed forces respect the physical integrity and personal dignity of the Kidnapped Minister of Foreign Affairs Patricia Rodas.

 During the program, the reporters established phone contact with the Secretary General of the Central American Integration System (SICA) who is in Managua for the summit of that regional organization. The Secretary General condemned the coup and called for the reinstatement of the rule of law and constitutional order and the restitution of the democratically elected President of the country adding that the only authority recognized is that of Manuel Zelayas.

 The Embassy of Cuba to Belize has issued a Press Statement that will be published by the media. 

 The Embassy of Cuba to Belize and the Heads of the Cuban Medical and Educational Teams in the country have established communications with their counterparts in Honduras and offered their support and solidarity.(Cubaminrex- Embacuba Belice)
