New Book on Fidel Castro Launched in Havana.
CUBA, February 14th, 2011.- Anecdotes by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro from his trips to over 50 nations make up the volume “Fidel por el mundo”, by journalist Luis Baez, presented at the ongoing International Book Fair in Havana.
The text, printed by the Abril publishing house, includes writings on the official coverage of the visits made by the leader of the Cuban Revolution to other countries, from his first trip –Venezuela, 1959- to the visit he paid to Barbados in 2005.
Eugenio Suarez, director of the Office for Historic Affairs of the Council of State, highlighted the vitality of a work that makes it possible to reaffirm the image of Fidel as a spokesperson of the poor, of the weakest nations, and of Cuban solidarity.
Each of Baez’s articles show a leader that, besides formal and official activities, finds room in his agenda to hold exchanges with the people in each nation visited, he underlined.
Fidel’s trips, as stated by the author, meant the sowing of friendship around the world, classes of diplomacy, and the best way to make people aware of the value and the need of a Revolution to be completely free, emphasized Suarez.
At the Nicolas Guillen Hall of the Morro-Cabaña, Complex Tubal Paez, president of the Association of Cuban Journalists, stated the importance, for the exercise of this profession on the island, of a text like “Fidel por el mundo”, an example of shrewd and thoughtful journalism, a legacy for new generations.
