Cuban Study on Toxic Algae Presented on World Conference.
CUBA, January 13th, 2011.- Cuban biology specialist Angel R. Moreira of the Center of Environmental Studies of Cienfuegos, represented the Cuban scientific community at the 14th World Conference on Toxic Algae held in Crete, Greece.
Moreira presented the results of a study on the presence and behavior of potentially-toxic algae living on the bay of Cienfuegos located on the central-southern coast of Cuba.
The study is part of a research project created in 2008 for the design and implementation of early warning systems and evaluation of toxicity levels of algae in the Caribbean.
Cuba is considered a regional reference in the application of nuclear techniques for the solution of environmental problems. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
