Havana Workshops on Alzheimer's and Caregivers.

CUBA, January 6th, 2011.- An extensive series of educational programs on the prevention of Alzheimer's disease will take place in scientific and cultural institutions in Old Havana.

  Sponsored by the Museum of Pharmacy, housed in the former Reunion drugstore, the program includes an interactive meeting with caregivers which will address strategies on effectively communicating with Alzheimer's patients.

Also, a panel discussion will featured health education for senior citizens, with talks on the risks of self-medication at that stage of life by academics from the University of Havana.

The workshops are part of the health projects sponsored by City Historian's Office to raise awareness about preventing chronic diseases through talks and panels of experts.

Considered one of the most devastating neurological diseases, Alzheimer's disease will triple in worldwide prevalence by 2050. (Cubaminrex-PL)
