State-of-the-Art Technologies Foster Cuban Oil Industry

CUBA, April 8, 2011.- Rafael Perez Tenreiro, specialist with Cubapetroleo Union, said at the 4th International Convention on Earth Sciences, that state-of-the-art technologies such as the 3D-seismic surveys substantially contribute to the knowledge of the Cuban subsoil geological properties.
When addressing a group of experts attending the significant event, the Cuban official stressed the new array of possibilities that tools of this kind offer to the developing Cuban oil industry, as it increases the chances of finding new oil deposits, mainly in the northern part of the Havana-Matanzas area.
Tenreiro Perez explained that there are still areas with potential for oil and gas, with low or zero level of geological knowledge.
The 4th International Convention on Earth Sciences will conclude Friday, an event which is attended by over 700 delegates from 21 nations. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
