Cuba, Japan Officials Meet in Tokyo
JAPAN, September 16, 2009. Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Japan, Jose Fernandez de Cossio held a meeting with deputies of the newly elected Japanese cabinet to talk about the impact and huge damage inflicted by US blockade to Cuba.
Fernandez de Cossio met with parliamentarians Tomoko Abe, from Japan Democratic Social Party and with Masahiko Yamada, Democratic Party, and gave specific details about the issue, diplomatic sources reported.
Japanese legislators spoke in favor of playing a more active role in strengthening the links with Cuba and with the rest of Latin American countries.
Both parts stressed the importance of the work of Japan Parliamentarians Friendship Leagues as the ideal tool to boost bilateral relations.
Deputies recalled their visits to Cuba and reaffirmed their interest in promoting collaboration with both countries in areas like health, education and organic agriculture. (Cubaminrex- PL)
