Cuba Assumes Regional Auditing Body Presidency.

HAVANA, June 4th, 2011.- The General Comptroller’s Office of the Republic of Cuba (CGR) assumed the presidency of the Organization of Central American and Caribbean Supreme Auditing. The ceremony was held at the organization’s 35th session, held on Friday at Havana’s Palco Hotel, where Guatemalan General Sub-comptroller for Accounts, Felipe F. Fernández, made the transfer official following a year of presidency by the Central American nation.
While taking on the position, Gladys M. Bejerano, Vice-president of the Council of State and General Comptroller of the Republic of Cuba, expressed her gratitude for the confidence, honor and responsibility for all comptrollers, auditors and workers of the CGR on the island.
Bejerano said that the Cuban presidency of the OCCEFS will be mainly aimed at promoting integration and the strengthening of the institution; taking preventive actions against corruption more efficient; favoring excellence at work; developing the professional and ethical training of the staff at those institutions; and boosting cooperation and the exchange of the best practices, by using information and communication resources.
The Assembly analyzed different topics of the OCCEFS, their work plans for 2011-2012 and approved that its next ordinary session take place at the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, coinciding with that of the OLACEFS. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
