Cuba Presents New Environmental Strategy.
CUBA, June 6, 2011.- The Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, America Santos, has announced that Cuba finished the proposal of a new environmental strategy for the 2011-2015 period.
During the national commemoration of World Environment Day, which took place in the province of Camagüey, Santos reported that the new strategy is based on the main environmental problems on the island and the principles and objectives that take part in policy and environmental management in Cuba.
She said that this project will be implemented over a five-year-period and will make constant transformations of the goals easier, according to the country’s demands in the areas of politics, economy and society.
During the celebration held on the banks of Maximo River, the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, José Miyar Barruecos, said that it is Cuba’s priority to maintain the conservation of the environment for future generations. He added that the island is making extraordinary efforts despite difficult economic and ecological situations in the world, obtaining the results that actually provide an improvement in the environmental scenarios.
