Former Ambassador of the GDR Presents Book on Cuba.

CUBA, 21 August 2011.- Former Ambassador of the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in Cuba, Heinz Langer  presented in Berlin his book "Slowly but surely", and predicts positive prospects for socialism in the island, reported PL.

In the presence of several dozen people, Langer said that the current process of updating the island's economic model will serve to strategically develop the Cuban socialism.

The former diplomat, who spent several years of service in Havana, rejected the criteria disseminated by some media regarding the possibility that these measures will lead to the restoration of the capitalist market economy.

He also emphasized the important role of Cuban integration in Latin American countries to develop its economy.

According to the author, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas (ALBA) has enormous significance to throw off the yoke of multinational corporations.

Do not forget that Fidel Castro was the father of this movement, Langer argued, for whom the initiative is positive for Latin America and Cuba.

During the presentation, the author highlighted the existence of a culture of debate in the island and, among other strengths of this system, he stressed that socialism was not imposed, but the result of its own historical process. (Cubaminrex-PL)
