Havana’s City Historian to Host Meeting on Management of Historic Centers.

CUBA, January 6th, 2011.- The Office of the Havana City historian under it’s Master Plan for the Comprehensive Revitalization of Old Havana, has announced the 9th International Meeting on Management of Historic Centers.

The event, scheduled from May 17th to 20th, will focus on the rescue and restoration of fortresses, historic headquarters, prisons and ancient monasteries plus port and industrial facilities with a view to the development of socioeconomic programs in favour of the city.

At the meeting, the participants will also deal with the issue of neighborhood leaders as promoters of socio-cultural projects.

It will include conferences by well-known experts, discussion panels, as well as thematic workshops.

The event has received support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), UNESCO, and other UN agencies. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
