Pan American Health Organization Recognizes Quality of Cuban Immunization Program.

CUBA, April 30, 2011.- The regional director of the Pan American Health Organization, Mauricio Landaverde, affirmed that Cuba has an immunization program of high quality, for its thorough coverage and care with which it is carried out.

The expert made this statement during the National Conference of Experts for the Documentation and Verification of the Elimination of Measles and Congenital Rubella. That group is presided over by Dr. Miguel Ángel Galindo, founder of the Cuban immunization program. Landaverde said they will work in the revision of vaccination coverage and examine all the evidence of the epidemiological monitoring and quality of lab samples. In Cuba, 11 vaccines protect against 13 diseases. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
