Quality of Higher Education in Cuba Highlighted.
CUBA, July 13, 2011.- Charles Corbette, ambassador of the Commonwealth of Dominica to Cuba, highlighted on Tuesday the quality of education on the island, where over 300 students from that nation have been trained.
While speaking in Ciego de Avila on the occasion of a graduation from the Maximo Gomez Baez University, Corbette stated that the cooperation project between the two countries, which dates back to 1979, contributes in an important way to the development of the human resources boosting the economy of the small Caribbean island. He expressed his appreciation to the Cuban government for guaranteeing the arrival of professionals trained in a comprehensive way.
He said that currently more than 80 youth are studying various specialties, like Agronomy, Medicine and other engineering fields and degrees, 11 of which will graduate this year.
Ike Desmond Antonius, ambassador of Suriname, who was also present at the ceremony, added that one of the main virtues of Cuban universities lies in the values instilled in professors, which encourage them to work for the benefit of society. (Cubaminrex-ACN-RHC)
