United Nations Representative Emphasizes Cuba’s Priorities for Well-Being of Women and Youth.

CUBA, July 11, 2011.- The International Coordinator of the U.N. Population Funds Program in Cuba, Jesús Robles, emphasized the priority of this nation for the well-being of women and youth.

Robles made declarations to the Juventud Rebelde newspaper, stating that even when Cuba did not have an explicit policy for its population, the state still adopted very advanced social programs. He said that Havana is evidence that when there is political will, the economic and development limitations are not necessarily obstacles that cannot be overcome, and that progress in health, demographic changes, and general well-being can still be made. Robles, speaking at the initiation of activities for the July 11th World Population Day, said that women in Cuba are the majority of professionals and trained technical workers. (Cubaminrex-RHC-PL)
