United Nations Recognizes Cuba's Work against Racism.
CUBA, June 16, 2011.- United Nations agencies have recognized the work of Cuba in fighting racism, thanks to a State policy aimed at benefiting all sectors of society.
Representative of the UN Population Fund, Rolando García, underlined that these achievements are an example for the world when given the same opportunities to all citizens and correspond to the inclusive and participatory policies promoted by the island’s government.
Juan José Ortiz, representative in Cuba of the UN Children's Fund, UNICEF, highlighted that hundreds of thousands of children of African descendants in the world are affected by poverty and its side effects, but that none of them are Cuban. (Cubaminrex-RHC)
